Sign / Symptoms
Description

Fruit infestation begins at the bud stage and continues until maturity. Larvae bore into the fruit, causing damage and leaving frass marks around the entry hole along with yellow liquid discharge. Affected fruit surfaces become soft and rotten.

Management And Control
  1. Regularly monitor pest populations to take early action.
  2. Remove and destroy infested, damaged, or fallen fruit.
  3. Improve air circulation through pruning.
  4. Wrap fruit with ventilated paper or plastic sacks to prevent infestation.
  5. Apply insecticides such as deltamethrin, dimethoate, or cypermethrin at recommended rates, alternating products with different  modes of action (IRAC).
