Cultural Control
Monitor the presence and population of fruit flies in the field. Collect and destroy all infested, damaged and fallen fruits. Wrap fruit buds as early as 5 weeks with a paper sack or burlap. Harvest as early as the fruit begins to ripen
Chemical control (un wrapped fruits):
i. Control by spot spraying with a mixture of insecticide and protein bait.
ii. Use protein bait traps to trap adults and reduce fruit fly populations.
iii. Use fruit fly traps containing a mixture of Methyl-eugenol and malathion or fipronil to monitor and mass trapping to reduce the population.
iv. Apply insecticide when the fruits begins to mature according to the rate recommended on the label
